What's the deal with "Unknown" addresses?

How to understand this biggest mystery in validation results

If address has been checked up to 70 times and our system still unable to definitively determine its status, we marking it as "Unknown".

For "Unknown" emails, the email address looks good, but the associated domain is not responding. This could be a temporary status for domains having intermittent issues or a permanent issue for dead domains. Since we are not able to conclusively determine the result, we mark it as unknown.

The strategy for dealing with such addresses is similar to the strategy for "Unverifiable" emails.

However, you should note that the problems that cause this behavior are often temporary. Validation could be performed when mail servers specified in the address list were overloaded. Later, when things are back to normal, a fairly significant percentage of addresses with this status can be valid. Therefore, it is important to validate on time - the results obtained several months ago can differ significantly.
